Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will receive a warm VIP welcome from a representative of opportune safaris. Our team will assist you with your luggage and ensure a smooth and comfortable arrival. You will then be transferred to the serena hotel, a luxurious five-star Hotel offering beautiful city views and a range of excellent facilities. After completing your check-in, take the rest of the day to unwind, enjoy the hotel’s amenities, and settle into the relaxed atmosphere of Kigali.

After breakfast at approximately 9:00 a.m., begin your exploration of Kigali with your professional local driver-guide. Known for its cleanliness, safety, vibrant neighborhoods, and growing cultural scene, Kigali offers an excellent introduction to Rwanda. Your first stop will be the Kigali Genocide Memorial, where you will learn about the country’s history, the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, and Rwanda’s remarkable journey of recovery, unity, and reconciliation. After the city tour, depart Kigali and travel north toward Volcanoes National Park. The scenic drive takes you through Rwanda’s beautiful countryside, characterized by rolling hills, lush vegetation, green forests, and picturesque rural communities. Upon arrival in the Volcanoes region, check in at Farmhouse. Enjoy lunch and take time to relax while experiencing the lodge’s peaceful surroundings and facilities.

Today brings one of the most memorable experiences of your Rwanda adventure: mountain gorilla trekking. After an early breakfast at approximately 6:30 a.m., proceed to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters in Kinigi for registration, briefing, and assignment to your gorilla trekking group. Around 7:00 a.m., begin your trek through the beautiful bamboo and montane forest in search of your assigned gorilla family. The trek can take several hours depending on the location and movement of the gorillas, as well as the terrain. Once you encounter the gorillas, you will have a precious hour to observe them in their natural environment. Watch their social interactions, feeding habits, playful young ones, and family dynamics while following the guidelines provided by your trekking team. After this extraordinary experience, return to the lodge for lunch and some well-deserved relaxation. In the afternoon, visit Iby’iwacu Cultural Village, located near Volcanoes National Park. This immersive cultural experience offers an insight into Rwanda’s traditional lifestyle, history, and customs. Explore traditional homes, learn about local food and music, enjoy traditional dances, and discover traditional skills such as basket weaving, carpentry, and ancient hunting techniques. After the cultural visit, return to your lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight accommodation. What to wear and carry: -Wear long trousers, long sleeve and hiking waterproof boats (to minimize the impact on wildlife, it is recommended to wear shades of green or brown). After an early breakfast at approximately 6:30 a.m., prepare for another exciting primate experience in Volcanoes National Park: golden monkey trekking. Golden monkeys are among Rwanda’s most fascinating primates. They are easily recognized by their striking golden-orange coats and are often seen moving energetically through the bamboo forests in large social groups. Upon arrival at the park headquarters, you will receive a briefing from the park team before being assigned to a tracking group. Around 7:00 a.m., begin your trek through the forest in search of these playful and endangered primates. As you follow your experienced guide, you will have the opportunity to observe the golden monkeys in their natural habitat. Watch them leap between branches, feed on bamboo shoots, fruits, and insects, and interact with one another. Once located, you will spend approximately one hour observing and photographing them while learning more about their behavior and ecology. After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and a relaxing afternoon. Enjoy your final breakfast at the lodge before checking out. Depending on your international flight schedule, you will be transferred from the Volcanoes region back to Kigali. Upon arrival in Kigali, you may have some time for last-minute shopping or relaxation, depending on your departure time.
